Let me show you how to draw a cool vampire cartoon in this advanced step-by-step vector tutorial! Remember: we are not drawing Dracula, but rather a vampire boy that could look very normal in your everyday life. Forget about the white skin and the crazy suit! We just want a cool dude that could be your neighbor!
After all, it's even more frightening to learn that the guy next door could be a vampire! Did you close all windows? Do you have garlic on you? Did you send an invitation? ;)
Important note: For each step available below, the first image represents the operation you must perform for this particular step. All changes are surrounded by a red outline.
On the second image, you will have the opportunity to see the result of this particular step.
The first thing we need to do is sketch the cartoon character using basic shapes that are made with black outlines. Fortunately, the character is not too complex to duplicate. Once you are finished, add plain colors on every part of the vampire.
Pick up the gradient tool and select shapes individually. Create a second color on each element of the character. The darkest color should be in the bottom of each shape.
Now we need to add additional shapes to enhance the eyes and the pupils. Create four circles to represent reflection on the eyes and the pupils. You can grab the transparency tool to hide the top part of each shape. Then, create two additional circles and place them behind the eyes. Make them darker and slightly larger to improve readability.
Finally, create long shadows using the same technique described previously on the head, the shirt and the feet. Great! Now we have a nice vampire cartoon ready to scare people at night! Well, maybe we just have a cute drawing after all! ;)
