how to draw a Superhero Cartoon dressed in green

Learn how to draw a cool superhero cartoon illustration dressed in a nice green suit! In my honest opinion, there is nothing more enjoyable than creating a fictional cartoon character like a superhero.

Superheroes can be realistic, cartoonish, filled with great big muscles or dressed in crazy suits. The fun part can also be the selection of a special power. Is my hero strong and intelligent? Is he invincible? The possibilities are endless!

Important note: For each step available below, the first image represents the operation you must perform for this particular step. All changes are surrounded by a red outline.

On the second image, you will have the opportunity to see the result of this particular step.

How To Draw A Superhero Cartoon Dressed In Green

Illustrations from this site (like the one above) can be yours now! Learn how

Step 1

First, let's draw the character using lines and shapes. Make sure that shoulders are large and don't hesitate to add a mask and a logo on the suit. Next, add plain colors to the character. In this case, I went with a green suit.

Step 2

Select each shape individually and pick the gradient tool. Remember that the light source is placed above the character. Therefore, you need to color the top of each shape with a lighter tone of color.

Step 3

The gradient tool can be used to create simple shadows, but that's not enough. The easiest way to create great-looking shadows consist of adding new shapes on the eyes and the body. These new shapes must be colored with a darker tone of color. Transparency can also be added for a cooler result.

Finally, you can create more shadows on the head and the body to complete the illustration. Your superhero cartoon is now done! As you can see, you can create a simple (but great-looking) character in no time using only a few basic shapes, simple shadows and a vector application. More similar characters can be found below. Enjoy! :)
