This tutorial is focusing on a cute snake cartoon! Although it might not be your favorite animal, snakes are fun to draw and color. Fortunately, they are relatively easy to sketch and in this drawing lesson, I will show you how to add great effects on your character.
Don't hesitate to use a vector software to complete this tutorial. It will be easier and the result will look better. Once you are finished, feel free to go through all drawing lessons from this part of the website.
Important note: For each step available below, the first image represents the operation you must perform for this particular step. All changes are surrounded by a red outline.
On the second image, you will have the opportunity to see the result of this particular step.
In the first step, create a simple snake using black outlines. Once you are done, color it in green.
Select the body and the eyes and add a gradient fill effect on the snake cartoon. Make sure that the bottom of your cartoon animal is darker.
It's now time to add the patches on the body. These patches should be light and slightly transparent. A small shadow can also be added near the jaw to form the mouth.
Add a large shadow on the head and make the bottom darker. The top must be transparent. Add a few circles on the eyes and the pupils to create reflections. Small patches below the eyes are also necessary.
Finally, add a few light shadows on the head, the central part of the body and the tail. That's it! Creating a nice snake is not too difficult if you follow these guidelines carefully! :)
