This nice seal cartoon is now the subject of this new drawing lesson that should be done using a vector graphic software! Don't worry! This tutorial is not a very difficult one. The body of the cartoon animal is drawn with basic shapes and effects are quite simple to achieve.
To make things easier, the character is colored with grey tones and light reflections. You can also try other tutorials from this section. Some characters are easy to complete while others will be more challenging and rewarding!
Important note: For each step available below, the first image represents the operation you must perform for this particular step. All changes are surrounded by a red outline.
On the second image, you will have the opportunity to see the result of this particular step.
Let's start this drawing lesson by sketching the outlines of the seal. You can use black lines to do so. Then, apply some grey colors on the body, black for the nose and pupil and white for the eye.
Next, use the gradient fill to enhance the body and the eye. Make sure that the bottom of each shape is darker.
Create three small circles. Place the first one on the eye, the second one on the pupil and the third one behind the eye. The first two circles must be white while the one behind the eye must be colored in grey (a dark tone). Use the transparency tool to hide partially the top of all three shapes.
In this step, you must create shapes on both sides of the flipper and near the mouth. These shapes should be dark and transparent on top.
Finally, create a light shadow on the top of the head of the seal cartoon and two more shapes on the back flipper. Nice job! As you can see, this character is not too difficult to achieve since the shapes are very basic and the colors quite simple. More seal can be drawn below. Enjoy! :)
