Illustrating a puppy clipart is a fun experience. Puppies are cute animals that are easy to draw, especially if you are using a template like the one below made from basic shapes and straight lines. The posture (a front one instead of a side one) is also relatively easy to duplicate if you are not familiar with the anatomy of this cartoon animal.
For this lesson, we will be working on a character similar to the one found below. I created this drawing lesson using a vector application, but you can always use a simple pencil to illustrate your own version without having to purchase an expensive software. Ready? Let's draw! :)
You can start by sketching a large rectangle to form the body and the head of the cartoon animal. The ears are done with shapes made from simple curved lines. The feet are represented by oval shapes that are partially hidden. Don't forget to use a thick outline on all shapes to increase the level of cuteness of the cartoon character.
For this step, let's work on the facial features of the cartoon animal. First, draw two large oval shapes to create the eyes. The pupils are done using smaller circles. The nose is made from an oval shape created with irregular lines. Finally, the mouth is done using a small curved line and this one is connected to the nose using another small line.
We are almost done! Around the left eye, you can sketch a large patch using a long circular shape. Next, draw another large patch around the nose as shown in the illustration below. The arms are done using straight lines while the tail is made from a long oval shape.
Good work! The drawing part of this lesson is now over. You can now add colors inside the cartoon character using a light brown color. The eyes are white while the large patch around the eye is darker. The small patch around the nose can be brighter and all outlines are filled with a dark brown color.
You did a great job illustrating this puppy clipart. Below, you can see all four steps needed to form this character in one simple image. Feel like this character is too easy to sketch? Why not try this second cartoon puppy made from circular shapes? It's a different challenge that is also fun and rewarding to complete! Enjoy! :)
