How to draw a koala: some fun facts before starting sketching!
You don't need to be a resident of Australia to learn how to draw a koala! This very cute animal was born with a very big nose (1) and two large, round furry ears (2).
The koala has five fingers (4), two of them being on the opposite side of the other three! The fur of this animal can be light gray or brown (3). The eyes are brown (sometimes almost red) and not very big.
Since this animal is sleeping most of the time, you shouldn't expect it to look strong or muscular. It looks more like a big teddy bear! The head and the ears are made with circles while the body is drawn using an oval.
The eyes are rather small but the nose is big and round. The fur also gives the impression that this animal has some strong and thick legs.

Let's draw a funny koala using some basic shapes! First, draw the body and the head using two rectangles. Notice how these shapes are narrower on the top. Next, work on your rectangles to make them more round. You can also add the big nose of your koala at this stage!

Continue your work by sketching the eyes and the ears of your creation. Notice how the eyes are small and close to each other. Then, draw the back legs of your koala using rectangles with smooth corners.
Add details like the inside of the ears, the arms and the fingers. Finally, add some brown (or gray) using different tones to complete your artwork!
You can practice and experiment when drawing a koala! You can draw it with big eyes (4), a round head (2) or with some eyes far one from each other (1). Just remember to draw a big nose, a fat (round) body and some big ears to make sure your creation will look like a real koala!
