If you are having trouble sketching a horse clipart, then this tutorial is definitely for you! I will show you how to create a simple character like the one available on this page using only basic shapes, lines and colors. This lesson is perfect for kids and beginners! Made mostly from basic elements, you can create a cartoon animal like this one is just four easy steps (and no more than 10 minutes).
Horses are wonderful animals. They are strong, fast and are helping men in various tasks for centuries. They can gallop up to a remarkable speed of 35 mph. Horses have a good memory and are able to learn some simple tasks quite easily. They were probably domesticated around 6000 years ago. Ready to draw a beautiful cartoon horse? Great! Let's proceed with the first step now ...
You can being this lesson by creating a large rectangle to form the body of the horse. You can use a thick outline to increase the level of cuteness for this character. Next, add two long ears made from curved lines on top of the head. When you are done, you can draw small triangles between the ears to illustrate some hair.
For this second step, you can draw large eyes made from circular shapes as shown in the illustration below. Notice that both eyes are partially hidden. Inside these eyes you can add small pupils. Below the eyes, you can also draw a mouth using a rectangle with round corners. Two small oval shapes are drawn to form the nose.
On the bottom of the rectangle, draw two small rectangles to create the hooves. Over the hooves, add small lines to illustrate the legs. Finally, a long tail made from curved lines can also be drawn on the right of the character. Nice work! Let's color this adorable horse now. :)
For this example, I have selected a light brown color for the body and the ears. The mouth is filled with a brighter version of the same color. The pupils and the nose are also filled in with a simple brown color. The hair and the tail are colored in grey and black.
These are all four steps needed to illustrate this character. Remember that practicing is the key to succeed!
Do you want something a little bit more challenging? Why not try this cartoon horse made from circular shapes? Enjoy and have fun with both characters! :)
