Learn how to create drawings of reptiles and amphibians using three fun examples. In this short series, you will learn how to draw a frog, a crocodile and a lizard. Using a similar template, I will show you how to add simple details to come up with recognizable characters quickly and easily. Let's start with the first cartoon animal available on this page ... the frog!
First, draw the head and the body of the character using long curved lines. Next, draw the eyes using small dots. You can add more small dots inside the pupils to illustrate reflections. The mouth is made from a curved line and a simple patch is drawn on the chest.
On the bottom of the character, draw all four legs using small curved lines. Complete this tutorial with the addition of yellow and green colors inside the cartoon frog.
First, draw the head and the body using the same technique as the one used in the previous lesson. On top of the head of the crocodile, sketch a tiny spike. The eyes and the nose are made from small oval shapes. You can also draw a mouth and short teeth.
All four legs and the tail are created from long curved lines. A large patch on the chest is drawn from more curved lines. Add a variety of green colors inside the cartoon crocodile to complete this basic step-by-step tutorial.
The last character that you can draw is this cute cartoon lizard. Once again, use the same template to create the head and the body. A short patch is added on the chest. Draw the eyes using dots and the mouth using a line.
Add small patterns on the body using tiny triangles. Draw all four legs using more curved lines. Complete this lesson by adding simple plain colors like yellow, green and red.
I hope you had fun creating drawing of reptiles and amphibians made from basic shapes. More characters from the same series are available for those looking for a nice challenge. Indeed, you can draw a nice variety of birds, farm animals, wild animals and sea creatures using the same template displayed on this page.
