Learn how drawing a cat can be a fun experience using this simple step-by-step drawing tutorial. Because let's face it: cats are the most popular subject when it comes to drawing lessons. Everyone loves illustrating this cute animal!
That's why I have created this tutorial featuring a cat made from a simple design. All shapes and lines are relatively easy to duplicate and the side version provides a nice alternative to a front version. The cat below will be the final result! Let's draw now! :)
First, draw a small square to illustrate the head of the cat. Corners are round and the shape is filled with a grey color (not too dark, but not too light either). The outline must be colored with a darker grey color.
Next, draw the eyes using long oval shapes. The nose is also drawn from an oval shape. Make sure that the nose is dark and you can also add whiskers. Finally, a single line can be used to represent the mouth. Don't forget to draw a line between the mouth and the nose.
For the body, the shape is similar to a triangle. The bottom and left lines are straight while the right line must be drawn with a curve in it. Choose the same color as the one used for the head.
Ears are made from small triangles. Just like all previous shapes, the outline has an irregular width. Don't forget to draw both front legs using circles. The one on the back must be darker.
Time to illustrate the back leg! Only one is shown since the other one is hidden behind the body. Once again, you must use the same color as the one used for the head and the body.
Draw a small tail behind the character. Make sure that this one is small and smooth. That's it! Drawing a cat was easy, don't you think?
The illustration above shows all steps required to create this character. I hope you had fun with this tutorial and don't hesitate to try more cartoon character from the same series! Have fun! :)
