Want to draw a fun animal from your environment? Why not learn how to draw a squirrel and pay tribute to this cute cartoon character! Indeed, squirrels are fun animals that sometimes don't hesitate to interact with people (most of the time in exchange for food!). If you have squirrels near your house, you know that these agile creatures are agile, fun to watch and very quick!
In this drawing lesson, you will have the opportunity to learn to draw a cartoon squirrel made from flat shapes based on a simple design. If you already tried some of the characters from the same series, then you already know how to draw a good portion of this animal. :)
Great. Let's move on to the lesson itself. You can begin with the addition of the head. You can use a large oval shape (similar to an egg) and make it as wide as possible. The body can be represented with a long rectangle. Make it thin since the body of a squirrel is long and thin.
Next, you can sketch the back legs using two circular shapes for each of them. The tail is made from two long curved lines that are connecting on top. Study the shape of the tail carefully. You can see a sample below.
Nice! Now you can draw the eyes using two big circles. You must leave some room below to draw the nose and the mouth. You can also draw the front legs. Make sure they are slightly lower than the back ones.
Next, you can draw the ears using two small triangles with pointed ends. The pupils are made from large circular shapes. The nose is illustrated with a small oval shape and the mouth is created from a long curved line.
Inside the ears, you can add a thin line. A squirrel also has small teeth, but don't draw huge squares. We don't want this little animal to look like a beaver.
That's it for this tutorial. You can draw a squirrel with colors if you prefer and don't forget that there are many more animals available in this series.
I hope you had fun with this lesson and feel free to take a look above if you need a quick overview at all steps needed to draw this cartoon animal. More cute squirrels from this site are available below. :)
