Enjoy this cute lesson on how to draw a rabbit and become an expert on how to illustrate an adorable version of this fun animal! It's true that drawing a rabbit might seem like an easy experience: all you need to do is sketch a funny character with two long ears, a few teeth and you are done. However, ending up with a cute character is not always as easy as it seems. Here are a few steps to help you achieve your goal ...
First, remember that this tutorial is not about coloring your illustration, but drawing it. Other lessons on this site can help you apply colors if needed. Also, remember that rabbits can be filled with many different colors and patterns (but I will leave this part to you). :)
Start by drawing a small circular shape to represent the head. It can look like an egg, but slightly wider. The body can be illustrated with a long rectangle. Make it thin so that the rabbit can look a little bit taller. A large rectangle will make the rabbit look smaller.
Feet and legs are made from oval shapes that are split into two different shapes. If you are not 100% sure how to draw and place these new elements, simply look at the template below.
Now the fun part! Draw two large circular shapes to illustrate the eyes. One additional shape can be sketched below the eyes to represent the nose. The tail is made from a small circle. Finally, long ears are drawn from oval shapes.
Pupils are made from circles and the mouth is drawn from a single curved line. You can also draw a small line between the mouth and the nose. Nice job! We are almost done now.
Inside the ears, draw a shape that is similar to the one used to create ... the ears! You can also add two small squares under the mouth to illustrate the teeth. You can play with the length of these shapes if you want to create a more exaggerated version of this cartoon animal.
Cool. This is a black and white illustration of the final version. As you can see, this cartoon rabbit is not so difficult to create. Be patient, try as many times as needed and no doubt that eventually you will be able to draw this rabbit easily and on your own.
That's it! Now that you know how to draw a rabbit, why not try more cartoon animals from the same series or maybe go for something more challenging in the advanced section of the site! :)
