How to Draw A Mouse

This simple drawing lesson should help you learn how to draw a mouse made from circular shapes and drawn from a cute design. Mice are quite popular in modern culture and drawing this fun animal is an easy task using this tutorial. Simply draw a couple of large ears and you are done! Think so? Think again!

There are a few animals that could look like a mouse if you are not careful. A rat, a hamster or even a mole can be drawn with shapes that are similar to a mouse. That's why it's important to create all elements needed to end up with a believable cartoon character. Let me show you what you need to illustrate this animal properly.

How to draw a mouse

Step 1

Let's start by illustrating the head of our cartoon mouse. Sketch a wide oval shape. The top can be narrow and the bottom wider. Next, add a long and thin rectangle to form the body. Simply look at the illustration below if you need more help for proportions.

Step 2

Good. Now let's add the feet and the legs. You will need to draw curved lines for this step. Remember that these new elements must be small and placed on the bottom of the body. Also, back legs are higher to increase the illusion of perspective.

Step 3

Nice. Just like Mickey Mouse, you need to draw two large circles on top of the head. Since we are creating a cartoon character, you can use two perfect circles. When you are finished, you can add a long tail using a curved line with a pointed end.

Step 4

This drawing is getting better and better now! Inside the ears you can add another circle. Three more circular shapes can be drawn inside the head to illustrate the eyes and the nose. Both eyes are huge while the nose can be sketched from a tiny circle.

Step 5

Pupils are also drawn from circles. You can add these new elements inside the eyes, but not quite in the middle. Instead, cheat a little bit by placing these circles near the middle of the head. Finally, add a long curved line with pointed ends below the nose.

Step 6

Nice work. This cartoon mouse is perfect. Compared to rats, mice have a long tail, big round ears and a rounder jaw. I hope you had fun learning how to draw a mouse using this fun lesson.
