Learning how to draw a monster is a very creative experience since these horrible creatures can virtually have all the shapes, sizes and designs you can think of! Indeed, unlike vampires or zombies that are usually created using the same elements, a monster can be big, small, green, blue, red, yellow ... your only limit is your imagination. As long as the creature is ugly and scary, you have a cartoon monster! So let me show you how to draw a cute one using just a few basic tips and six easy steps.
You can start working on this adorable creature using the simple video lesson found below. You can also go through this tutorial using a basic step-by-step technique located below the video. Both are offering a different view on the character. Enjoy! :)
First, you need to illustrate the head and the body (that are part of the same shape) using a square with round corners. The legs are made from long rectangles while the feet are created with small triangles.
Next, you can draw the arms using long curved lines like shown on the illustration below. The hands are represented by two long fingers made from pointed triangles.
In this simple step, you can draw the mouth using a long curved line. Make sure you leave enough room above the mouth to create large eyes to make sure the cartoon monster is as cute as possible.
It's time to work on the eyes! Using two large circular shape, create the eyes and make sure that they are close to each other. Repeat the same technique to form the pupils.
Add a final touch to this cartoon monster by drawing two pointed teeth made from small triangles. Inside the eyes, draw large oval shapes to create the pupils.
Nice work! This is the final version of this monster in black and white. Don't hesitate to add colors! As you can see, this cartoon monster is quite easy to create once you are familiar with all six steps! :)
The fun thing about monster is that there are no boundaries. So it's time to draw your own version using any shapes and colors you can think of. Be creative and don't hesitate to come up with something different and original!
