Australia's most popular animal is now a great lesson on how to draw a kangaroo! This fun animal is easy to recognize and your job will be to illustrate this magnificent animal from a front view using all basic shapes possible. It's a simple design made with few details that anyone (even beginners) should be able to reproduce.
Below is a simple version made with flat colors. This animal is quite unique and it is important to sketch all elements properly to make sure that the result is cute and accurate.
Cool! Let's start with the creation of the head and the body. As seen below, the head, the neck and the body are part of a single shape drawn with one long curved line. The head must be wider and the body is longer (or taller).
Next, you can add the front legs using small circular shapes. Both shapes must be placed close to each other. The back legs are large and made from two curved lines.
Nice! The ears are made from long pointed triangles. These shapes are made from curved lines and are facing the top of the illustration. These long ears are essential to give this cute look to the kangaroo.
Continue working on the cartoon animal by adding the nose using a small oval shape. The mouth is represented with a single curved line with pointed ends. Finally, the mouth and the pupils are drawn from large circles.
Add some details like a second line inside the ears and small oval shapes inside the pupils. Don't forget to add a pouch using a small portion of a circular shape.
Great! You can now see the complete character below.
These are the steps required to complete this drawing lesson. I hope you had fun and don't forget to try more cartoon animals from the same series below! :)
