Jump to the next level with this amusing tutorial on how to draw a frog made from basic elements! Frogs are fun animals to sketch. Many designs are available online, but none are easier and more adapted for beginners than this lesson. If drawing is a hobby that you are not familiar with (or if you find it too intimidating), then this tutorial is definitely a good one to start with!
So what makes a frog so easy to design and easy to read? Simple! Draw two large eyes, long back legs and a cute lighter patch on the stomach. Eyes are often drawn slightly outside the head, but for cuteness purposes, I have decided to keep the eyes inside for this particular cartoon animal.
Good! Now that we know a little bit more on how to draw this adorable animal, let's do it. Start with the creation of the head. Use a huge circle to do so. For the body, you can add a smaller version (and narrower one). We want to create an energetic version, so make sure these shapes are drawn properly.
Time to work on the most important part of the body: the back legs! Each leg is basically made from two different oval shapes. A small one for the foot and a long and thin one for the leg itself. You can even exaggerate even more and draw legs that are higher than the head!
Next, draw the front legs using the top part of a small circular shape. For the eyes, you can simply use two large circles. Make sure that the eyes are located near the top of the head. This is a frog and these animals don't really have a forehead.
Great! The pupils are also drawn from circles. As you can see below, these shapes are not located in the middle of the eyes. They are rather placed slightly towards the middle of the illustration. You can also draw the small patch on the frog's stomach.
Finally, draw a large curved line to create a happy character gifted with a large and pleasant mouth. You can give life to the eyes by adding two additional oval shapes.
See how this cartoon character looks like a frog even if there are only a few details. This is a good example that a drawing doesn't have to be complex and filled with textures or patterns to be enjoyable and visually appealing.
Only six steps were necessary to end up with a fun frog. Learning how to draw a frog doesn't end here. You can also try more cartoon frogs from other series by looking at all tutorials available in the menu on your left. Have fun! :)
