Not quite gone yet, you can still learn how to draw a dinosaur if you are fascinated by this great cartoon animal! It's true that dinosaurs ruled the earth a few million years ago. It's also true that if it wasn't for a meteorite (or some kind of natural disaster), dinosaurs would probably still be the strongest and most feared animal on earth today. Fortunately for us, it's not the case ... so let's draw a fun cartoon dinosaur using only basic elements!
This first step is the most important one, so let's take the time to draw it properly. The head is made from a rectangular shape with round corners. The body is a small oval shape (smaller than the head).
You can join the head and the body using a small rectangle. The tail consists of a small triangle with a pointed end. The foot is made from another small triangle.
When you are done with this first step, draw two large circles to represent the eyes. Leave some room below to draw the mouth later on. The front arm is made from a line and an oval shape. Don't forget to add a small line on top of the back leg.
Now that you know how to draw the arm and the leg/feet, duplicate these shapes to create the ones that are located on the far side of the cartoon dinosaur.
Next, sketch the pupils using large circular shapes. Make sure the pupils are slightly closer to each other. A long curved line can be used to illustrate the mouth.
Complete this tutorial with the addition of several small teeth made from pointed triangles. Oval shapes can also be added inside the pupils.
Nice work! See how this cartoon dinosaur is so cute! Now that you have a black and white version of this illustration, why not add some colors! :)
Great job! Want to try more dinosaurs? Cool! This dinosaur cartoon is filled with lighting effects and doesn't have any visible outlines. You can also try this complex tutorial on how to draw a dinosaur with great shadows. Finally, if you like digital paintings, then this dinosaur drawing is all you need! It's tough, but quite rewarding to create! :)
