Time to learn how to draw a crab and see why this adorable cartoon animal is fun and easy to draw! Feel like creating the perfect crab is tough and difficult to achieved? Need a simple design to start with? Good news! I can guarantee that you won't have any trouble sketching and duplicating the following character. It is so easy that even young kids can draw this simple animal!
For some reason, drawing a crab is something I really enjoy. These animals are adorable and represent a different challenge. Let's face it: a dog, a cat, a tiger and a lion are pretty similar. Crabs are different and fun to illustrate!
Just like most cartoon animals (or even cartoon characters) it's always a good idea to start with the head. Make sure this one is almost on the bottom of your illustration. Use a large oval shape to create this one.
Next, you can add both claws using circular shapes. I like to draw the claws slightly opened. You can also play with the size of the claws and draw huge ones or smaller ones.
Proceed with the creation of the legs. Add three shapes on each side of the cartoon crab. These shapes must be pointed and made from curved triangles.
Sketch the eyes and the pupils using circular shapes. Both pupils ca be placed near the middle of the illustration. Don't hesitate to cover a large area of the face with the eyes. The result will be much cuter.
Complete this lesson with the addition of a long curved line to illustrate the mouth. A few oval shapes can also be used to add more life inside the pupils of the cartoon crab.
That's it! This fun cartoon character can be seen in a black and white version below. Crabs are often colored in red, but they can also be filled in orange, with a light blue color or white.
Now that you know how to draw a crab, maybe you could try another sea animal from the same series. Have fun!
