Yes! They are still here! This funny dinosaur cartoon won't disappear and it is your job to draw one as cute as possible! Just follow the steps carefully and you should be able to create a lovable character that looks... a little bit angry! :)
As you probably already know, you will need a vector application to create this tutorial. Using such a software can be tricky and if you don't own one, I suggest you try one. It's fun and it does make drawing even more accessible!
Important note: For each step available below, the first image represents the operation you must perform for this particular step. All changes are surrounded by a red outline.
On the second image, you will have the opportunity to see the result of this particular step.
Let's move on with the first step of this tutorial. Select the drawing tool and create the outlines of your dinosaur. Colors are not important since all lines will disappear in the next step. Once you are finished, removed all lines and add plain colors to the shapes of your character.
Great! Now select the gradient tool to add some cool shadows on the dinosaur. As you can see, the bottom part of the character is dark while the top is lighter. Also, notice that the teeth are not white, but rather grey and darker. The leg on the back is also colored with a dark tone of green.
In this step, we will create new shapes to create more shadows on the head of the dinosaur cartoon. For the teeth, we need to add some dark shapes near the lips of the character. These shapes must be small and slightly hidden.
You can also create circles to create reflections on the eyes, the pupils and two dark patches below the eyes. In all cases, you can also add transparency for a better result.
Let's create more shadows for the teeth, but this time using bigger shapes. Make sure that these new shadows are lighter than the previous ones that were created for the teeth. You can also duplicate the arms and add some transparency to create new shadows.
New shapes were also added to create the eyebrows, the top part of the tail as well as new circles around the eyes. Once again, these new shapes are also filled with some transparency.
Nice, but we are not done yet! New shapes are also added to form the bottom part of the lips, the tip of the tail, the bottom part of the tail, the front leg and the nose. The character is almost finished!
Let's complete this drawing lesson by creating shapes to add more volume to the forehead, the left side of the head and around the mouth. Always make sure that the accurate part of the shape is darker and that transparency is used in relevant places. Great job! This dinosaur cartoon is now finished. This tutorial was slightly more complicated than usual, but the result is also more enjoyable!
