Learn how to draw cow drawings that are funny and filled with cute vector effects! This particular animal is quite enjoyable to draw. For me, a cow is a lazy cartoon character that spends most of its time sleeping and eating grass.
That's why I have decided to sketch and create a character that looks so numb. All characters are fun to draw, but this one was special! Just give it a try and see by yourself.
This tutorial begins with the sketching of the character. I prefer to start with the eyes, the head and then the body before adding details like patches and pupils. Just use the order you think will work best for you.
Once the sketching part is finished, add lines on the cartoon character. You can select a black color for now. You can also select a line with an irregular width to give more personality to your illustration.
Create new shapes (or use the shapes already available) and add plain colors to your cow drawings. Don't worry if the body is too dark for now. In this case, I want to create a character with a white body and brown patches.
Use the gradient tool to apply a first shadow effect on all shapes. Since the body was already colored with a grey tone, select white as the second color. Remember that legs on the far side must be darker.
Using the gradient tool to enhance the character is nice, but it's not enough to come up with something that looks as professional as needed. So let's add a few shapes to create even more shadows on the cow.
Once all shapes are created, use the transparency tool to partially hide some parts of your shapes. Nice! Now the character already looks more convincing.
Repeat the same process, but this time by using white shapes to create reflections. This new addition will add more depth and realism to the illustration.
Once again, use the transparency tool to hide the bottom part of the shapes created in the previous step. At that point, the drawing can be considered finished. We can do one more thing to improve it...
Change the color of all outlines using a color similar to the shape that is near each outline. It is recommended that you use a color that is slightly darker than the darkest part of the shape. That's it! Your illustration is now done! You can create more cow drawings and practice these tips as often as needed! :)
