This tutorial will help you draw cartoon water! Drawing water is always a great challenge for an artist! You have to use reflection, refraction, shadows, transparency... just name it!
This challenge is now irrelevant for 3D artists since software are now faster and better! So let's try to overcome these challenges and let's draw a single drop of water as accurately as possible!
First, draw a circle to form the drop of water. You can sketch a triangle on top to illustrate the tail of the drop.
Next, let's join these two shapes together to create the outline of our drop. Make sure that the top is narrow and pointed.
In this step, try to reproduce the exact same shape inside the original one. Don't sketch it too far apart from the previous drop. This new outline will be used to create the body of our drop of water.
Like any liquid, water is reflecting light easily. To create this illusion, just draw a drop-like shape on the left side of your illustration.
Finally, draw a longer but thinner shape on the right side of your artwork. It will be used to create the darker reflection of your drop of water.
Now add the colors. Make sure that the reflection on the left is the lighter shape of all. The outline of your drop of water is also light and blue. Choose a color a little bit darker for the main part of your illustration.
Finally, the shape on the right should be the darkest color of your drawing. So there you have it! A simple drop of water drawn easily using only different tones of color. I hope you enjoyed this tutorial and good luck!
