Drawing a realistic cartoon tennis ball requires some patience and a good sense of observation. Creating a texture similar to fur or cotton ain't so easy!
But if you are dedicated to learn how to achieve this, I'm sure you will be able to do so pretty quickly! Let's see how you could draw a nice tennis ball in this short and informative tutorial.
Start your artwork by drawing a nice, big circle.
Add a line on your ball just like shown on the illustration above. If you wish, you can search for other tennis ball images on the net (or get your own ball) to draw this line in a different angle.
Color your ball using a light green tone and make sure that the line on the ball is white.
Add a shadow effect and make sure that the bottom part of your ball is darker than the top. I created this shadow using a circular effect.
Finally, it's time to work on the texture of the ball to add a touch of realism! This picture was colored with a virtual pencil using a sponge-like texture. Just pick up a tone slightly darker than the one you are working on to create this special effect.
This means that on the bottom of the shape, I colored my tennis ball with a dark green, while on the top, I've chosen a lighter tone of green. That's it! Your tennis ball is now ready to be used by professional players. More fun objects related to sports can be found below. Good luck and have fun!
