This tutorial will show you how to draw cartoon socks! Drawing the feet of a character is a very tough challenge! Especially if the character is standing in a perspective position (with a 3/4 view).
But if this same character is wearing shoes or socks, then this challenge is now gone! Still, you need to know how to draw convincing socks in order to make your hole illustration accurate and interesting!
First, draw a long and thin rectangle to create the top part of your sock. You can give this shape a little rotation. It will be easier to draw the bottom part that way!
Next, add a circle and another rectangle to complete the body of your sock. Make sure that this second rectangle is shorter, but similar in width compare to the first one.
Combine all shapes together and draw the outline of your sock. I've added some green lines on the image above to help you figure out which lines are important and how you should draw them.
Add details on the cuff, the heel and the toe of your sock. You can also draw a small line near the instep to illustrate the junction of the feet and the leg of your character.
Congratulations! You just draw a nice and beautiful sock! Just repeat the same process to create the other one! The thing you should really work on to make your socks realistic enough is the outline! Without it, you are doomed to fail at this drawing lesson! Good luck and enjoy!
