This easy tutorial will help you learn how to draw a cartoon octopus. This weird, ocean animal might not be the most enjoyable thing to watch.
With its eight arms and ugly silhouette, nature didn't really help it win a beauty pageant! But it doesn't matter! We will still try to draw this animal using a simple step-by-step tutorial!
First, draw a big (and I mean really big!) oval shape to create the body and the head of the octopus. Next, add two small circles to form the eyes of your sea creature.
For the tentacles, just use three rectangles to create each of them. In this first step (for tentacles), draw the two opposite ones and leave some space under the octopus for the tentacles remaining.
Next, just draw two more tentacles using the same techniques (with three rectangles).
Finally, draw the tentacles remaining. Like you can see, I decided to cheat a little by drawing only six tentacles instead of eight. Fortunately, this is something you can do while drawing cartoons!
Now let's try to refine our drawing! Start by working on two tentacles. Make them narrow and not too long.
Next, work on all tentacles remaining by using the same technique you used in the previous step.
When you are ready, attached the body to the bottom part of the octopus. The outline of your character should be done by now.
You can now work on the inside of your octopus. Draw some lines on tentacles to create the suction cups on the undersides. Next, work on the eyes and the mouth of your character. Just make it happy and smiling!
Adding some colors will do the job for now! If you followed this tutorial carefully, you should have a cute octopus, something that mother nature wasn't really able to do! But you were able to draw it easily by following this adorable tutorial! Have fun!
