Drawing a cartoon lawyer can be a fun exercise if you wish to learn how to illustrate a character with a nice suit. In this lesson, you will have the opportunity to create a simple man wearing a tie, a white shirt, dark pants and holding a suitcase.
Of course, it's usually not a good sign when you need to deal with a lawyer. However, if you want to have a small chance of winning your case, it is definitely a good option. Don't hesitate to change the color of the suit or even the suit itself. The appearance of a lawyer can change from one country to another, so it's important to draw something that is fun and realistic.
Ready? Let's start this lesson now ...
You can start this tutorial by drawing a large oval shape to form the head. The neck is made from a tiny rectangle. The bottom of this shape is made from a short curved line. Finally, sketch the torso using a mix of curved lines (top and bottom) and straight ones (left and right). Notice how the size of the head and the torso are quite similar.
On the bottom part of the character, you can draw simple legs using straight lines. Notice how both legs are a little bit narrower compared to the hips. Nice work! This cartoon lawyer is getting better with each simple step.
On both sides of the torso, you can add arms using long curved lines. The hands are made from more simple short lines. For now, only the thumb and the index is visible on both hands. You can complete this step by drawing two feet using more curved lines.
On the left hand of the character, you can sketch two more fingers. For the right hand, this one is holding a suitcase. The handle is made from a small circular shape and the suitcase itself is represented by a rectangle. Another finger is also added behind the handle.
Now that most of the body parts are created, you can work on the facial expression of the character. First, sketch some hair using several small curved lines. For the ears, perfect curved lines are also used.
The eyes are made from large oval shapes. The pupils are created from small dots. For the nose, you can use a short line. The mouth is made from a longer one.
Below the neck, you can sketch a simple collar using two small triangles. For the tie, a circle and a few straight lines are needed. Great work! We are now done illustrating this lovely cartoon lawyer. It's time to proceed with a different step ...
The hair is filled with a bright yellow color. For the tie, you can use a blue color. The pants and the pupils are black. Finally, you can use a subtle brown color for the suitcase and the shoes. The eyes and the shirt can be white.
If you want to add more depth and volume to the subject, you can also play with gradients. As you can see below, most shapes are now darker near the bottom and brighter on top.
I hope you had fun learning to draw this simple lawyer. More adorable characters can be drawn below. Enjoy and don't forget to practice often. :)
