Learn how to draw a simple cartoon bell made from curved lines and great effects! This original object is usually made from solid materials like bronze or metal. Therefore, the object needs to be shiny and filled with enough effects to create a solid and vivid illustration that will represent it properly.
First, draw the bell using simple curved lines and circular shapes. Outlines can be filled with a dark golden color. Since we are creating this illustration with a vector application, colors can be modified later on if needed.
Add plain colors on all elements of the object. The stripes can be darker and the bottom of the bell can also be filled with a darker color.
Use the gradient fill tool to add a second color on all elements of the bell. The bottom of the object must be darker while the top should be brighter. Look at the illustration below if you need more guidelines and help to complete this step.
You can also draw more shapes manually to give more depth to the image. These new shapes are used to create darker areas. Don't forget to use some transparency otherwise these new elements will be too dark and not very effective. The pink outlines are only used to help you see the location of these new elements.
This is the result once these shapes are added.
Next, you can sketch more shapes for areas that are brighter and more exposed to the light source. These new elements can be colored in white and transparency is also used to create a subtle effect that won't be too distracting.
Nice work! This is the cartoon bell once all steps are done. I hope you had fun working on this simple object and don't hesitate to try more tutorials from the miscellaneous series. :)
