Drawing a nice cartoon bag is not a very challenging task to accomplish. However, making this same bag colorful and attracting can be a little bit more difficult. In this simple step-by-step tutorial, I will show you how to draw a bag filled with simple shadows and a nice recycle logo on it!
Don't hesitate to add another logo on the bag or create fun textures. You can also use another color to fill your image to add a little fantasy to your drawing. Have fun and don't forget to recycle (but you already knew that! :)
It's a good idea to create a simple template made from basic shapes to help you locate the object in your work space. For this lesson, you can start by drawing a large rectangle (almost a square) to form the main shape of the object. Leave some room on top for the handles.
Next, sketch a thin stripe on top of the bag as shown in the illustration below. This simple pattern will be useful to separate the bag from the handles later on. Otherwise, both elements might be slightly harder to read.
For this template, simply draw one handle on top of the bag. This one can be made from two long curved lines. Nice work!
This cartoon bag looks perfect. In fact, this object is TOO perfect. We will work on this issue in the next step. :)
The template made from basic shapes was nice, but it's not what we are looking for. To create a realistic bag, we need lines that are shaky and irregular. Use the template made from perfect shapes to create your object. In this step, a second handle is created behind the original one.
For this cool object, I have selected a subtle beige color. As you can see below, only the stripe and the handle located on the far side are filled with darker colors. Outlines are also colored in dark beige (instead of being black).
Now that colors were added to the object, let's create subtle shadows. These new shapes must be slightly darker, but also partially transparent to be effective. Shadows were added on the left side of the bag as well as on the bottom of the front handle.
In the center of the bag, you can draw a simple logo made from green arrows and a large white circle. For this example, the logo is large and located right in the middle of the object.
The last thing we can do is add some depth inside the logo. Notice how all three arrows are darker near the middle and brighter on the edges? The white circle is also slightly darker on the left side. This effect is very subtle, but you can see it clearly when comparing with the previous illustration above. Excellent! This lesson on how to draw a fun cartoon bag is now completed! :)
More fun objects can also be drawn below. Enjoy these additional lessons and remember to practice on a daily basis if you want to improve your drawing abilities quickly and easily. Have fun! :)
