This tutorial will show you how to draw a cartoon arm. If you like super heroes, then knowing how to draw a muscular arm is a must! You need to create a strong shoulder, a big arm and a firm forearm.
If you are having trouble doing so, then maybe this simple drawing lesson will help you draw a super hero (or a villain) that will look strong and virile.
Draw a rectangle and a circle like shown above. These shapes are not too important for this tutorial. They will be used to create the body of our character.
OK! Let's start drawing our arm now! First, draw a small circle to trapezius of your character. Next, add another circle (a little bigger his time) to form the shoulder. I added a small square around both shapes to help you sketch them in the right place.
Now the arm itself! Draw a long oval shape below the shoulder. You don't need to draw a very large shape to make your character muscular. Under the arm, draw a little rectangle to represent the junction between the arm and the forearm. The elbow will be located below this new shape.
Repeat all steps described above to illustrate the forearm and the wrist. The forearm should be a little longer than the arm.
Finally, just draw a circle for both the hand and the thumb.
Now refine the outline of your cartoon arm. Take your time to study every line and curve carefully. If you don't sketch the outline accurately, your arm won't real! This is a very crucial step!
Add some lines like shown above to make the muscles near the shoulder and on the arm stand out better.
And when you are finished, you can add some shadows near the outline of the arm to give it more depth.
And there you have it! A nice and strong arm, property of a cool superhero! Drawing a muscular character is not so easy if you don't understand the human anatomy. That's why it's important to practice a lot and study the anatomy of a man carefully. I hope you had fun drawing this difficult body part!
