Creating a bobcat clipart is certainly easier than trying to draw the real animal using complex shapes and elements. Bobcats are agile animals with difficult body parts to duplicate. That's why starting with this version if you are a beginner can be enjoyable and more rewarding.
Indeed, clipart images are usually simple and done using basic shapes and lines. As you can see below, this simple cartoon animal is mostly created from straight lines, circular shapes and rectangles. I also like to use plain colors instead of using the gradient fill tool. Now that you know a little bit more what to expect, let's start this drawing lesson now! :)
First, draw the body and head of the bobcat using one large rectangle. On top of this rectangular shape, add the ears using long curved lines. Then, draw the eyes and the pupils using large circles.
Notice how the eyes are partially hidden on both sides of the head. Finally, you can draw two small triangles near the bottom of the eyes to represent hair.
For this second step, you can start by illustrating the nose and the mouth using a circle and two lines. The first line is used to form the mouth and the second one is drawn to join the mouth and the nose together.
Then, you can add the arms using broken lines as shown in the image below. The feet are done with long curved lines.
In this third step, you must add details inside the bobcat clipart using once again simple shapes. First, you can create patches inside the ears using curved lines.
On top of the head, three more straight lines are added to represent stripes. Next, you can draw a long oval shape around the mouth and use a long curved line to create a patch on the stomach of the character.
This last step requires the application of plain colors inside this cartoon bobcat. The head and the body of the animal are filled with a bright yellow color.
The pupils are colored in green and the nose is filled with a simple brown color. The eyes and the patches found around the mouth, the ears and the stomach are colored in white.
The result is a simple bobcat that can be done using a pencil or a vector application. This illustration is rather simple and even beginners should be able to create something similar. Of course, you can also use your imagination and create your own version using basis shapes and elements. Enjoy! :)
