Using simple shapes to create a bird clipart is a good exercise when learning how to draw cartoon animals. Indeed, you don't necessarily need to draw a complex cartoon character to end up with something adorable and enjoyable. In this tutorial, you will have the opportunity to sketch a simple bird using basic shapes and colors.
You can see the final illustration above. As you can see, this simple image can be done using a basic vector application or a pencil and a piece of paper. Of course, you can also create your own version once you are familiar with this cartoon bird. Ready? Let's see how you can create a fun bird like this one ...
Let's begin with the addition of the body and head (which are represented using the same shape) by drawing a large and long rectangular shape. On the bottom right of this shape, you can sketch a small triangle to illustrate the tail of the bird. Both shapes can be done using a thick outline. Great! Let's proceed to the second step! :)
Inside the rectangle used to create the head and body, draw two large circular shapes to form the eyes. Notice how these shapes are partially hidden on both sides of the head. Inside the pupils, draw circles to represent the pupils. Finally, complete this step with the addition of the beak made from a pointed triangle.
On top of the head, create a large triangle made from curved lines to illustrate a single hair. On the bottom of the body, sketch the feet using small curved lines. Two small pointed lines are also added to form the wings of this cartoon bird.
It's time to add colors! In this case, I selected a bright blue color to illustrate this wonderful animal. The pupils are also colored in blue while the eyes are white. The beak and the feet and filled with a bright orange color. The tail is also blue, but a darker version of the original color is used to fill in this part of the bird clipart.
Awesome! Below you can have a quick look at all four steps required to complete this tutorial. As you can see, this fun animal is quite easy to duplicate.
Be creative and try new shapes, new colors or simply add more features to create a more complex character. I hope you had fun working on this animal and don't hesitate to try some of the lessons below.
