Whale cartoon (Advance vector tutorial)

Although this whale cartoon is large and heavy, it is still the perfect cartoon animal to apply colors to! The body is not filled with small details and colors are simple and pretty basic. Sketching this character should not be a problem if you have a few drawing abilities.
In ten easy steps, you will create a great animal that you will be proud of. Remember that drawing is all about practicing. If you don't feel comfortable with the result, just try again until you are 100% satisfied. I learn new tricks every day and I will probably do so for the rest of my life! Enjoy!
Important note: For each step available below, the first image represents the operation you must perform for this particular step. All changes are surrounded by a red outline. On the second image, you will have the opportunity to see the result of this particular step.
Nice! Move on with the first step by creating the character using dark lines. Once you are finished, you can apply colors on your whale. Right now, a few basic details are missing, but we will work on this later.
Select shapes one-by-one and use the gradient tool to apply shadows on the character. For the fins on the bottom, make sure that the one on the back is darker. For the eye, a circular fill would be more appropriated.
Create two white circles and place one of them on the top of the eye and the other one on the pupil. These little shapes are used to represent reflections.
In this step, we will create two large shadows. One is placed below the mouth. In fact, the top of this shape is used to create the mouth itself. Make it dark and slightly transparent on the right. On top of the whale cartoon, create a large light shape to illustrate reflection. The bottom of your shape must be transparent.
Finally, complete this tutorial by adding a dark patch below the eye of the cartoon animal. You can also create a light shadow to be placed on the back fin of your character. As you can see, this drawing lesson is quite easy to achieve if you have the right tools (like a vector software). :)
