Don't be too quick! Take your time to learn how to draw this cute turtle cartoon and everything will be fine! Learning to draw this particular cartoon animal is not very difficult compared to other tutorials from this section. All you need to do is grab a pencil, create the outline of your cartoon character and fill it with green colors.
As you probably already know, you will need a vector software to complete this drawing lesson. You will have the opportunity to learn how to create nice shadows and simple reflections using simple shapes, a few plain colors, the gradient tool and a little bit of transparency. Are you ready? Great! Let's start this drawing tutorial!
Important note: For each step available below, the first image represents the operation you must perform for this particular step. All changes are surrounded by a red outline.
On the second image, you will have the opportunity to see the result of this particular step.
As you can see above, the first step requires that you create the outline of the turtle. Some lines are missing for now (like the one that will be used to create the mouth), but it doesn't matter. When you are done with the outlines, add plain colors on all part of the cartoon animal.
Next, select all shapes individually and use the gradient tool to create nice shadows. Most shapes will be darker on the bottom. For the eyes, you can use a circular fill for a better result. Otherwise, a linear fill will be fine.
It's now time to add a few shadows on the character. Create circles to be used as reflections on the pupils and on the eyes. You can also create a dark shadow below the mouth. In fact, this shadow will be used to create the mouth of the turtle.
Duplicate each shape on the shield and create a light shadow out of each shape. You can also add a dark patch below the eyes to make them easier to read.
Finally, two more shadows can be added to make the mouth and the bottom of the neck a little bit darker. Good job! The turtle cartoon is now fisnished and the character looks great with all the shadows and the colors. Don't hesitate to start the drawing lesson once again if you feel that it's not as good as you want it to be! :)
