Teacher Cartoon (Advance Vector Tutorial)

Learn how to draw a cute teacher cartoon wearing cool glasses! I agree. Drawing a teacher might not be as exciting as sketching a dragon, a futuristic world or a mermaid. However, you can still learn a few things while creating the teacher of your dream (I know... you want a teacher that doesn't give any homework!).

In this case, I have chosen a female teacher that is wearing glasses and clothes colored in brown. Let's start this tutorial right now!

Important note: For each step available below, the first image represents the operation you must perform for this particular step. All changes are surrounded by a red outline.

On the second image, you will have the opportunity to see the result of this particular step.

Step 1

First, sketch the cartoon character using black outlines. Since the head in made with a circle, I had to create two shapes over the eyes to represent the front part of the hair. Next, apply plain colors on your character.

Step 2

Once you are finished, select each shape one-by-one and use the gradient tool to create shadows. Each shape must have two tones of color.

Step 3

Next, create six circles to illustrate reflection on the pupils, the eyes and the dark patches behind the eyes. You can use the transparency tool to hide the top part of all new shapes. You can also create a small shadow below the head using a new shape.

Step 4

Repeat the same process by adding new shapes to create shadows near the hair and on the shirt. Once again, you can use the transparency tool to hide the top part of all new shapes.

Step 5

Finally, create large shadows on the head, the shirt and the dress. Good job! Your character looks like an adorable teacher cartoon! Are you ready for another lesson? :)
