Learn how to draw a cute student cartoon in this easy vector step-by-step drawing lesson! Some characters are harder to create than others. Strangely, this cartoon character was not the easiest to come up with. Simple things are often harder to illustrate because mistakes are easier to make!
To create this cute illustration, you need a vector application and a few basic abilities at drawing. Hopefully, this cute character won't be too difficult to duplicate! :)
Important note: For each step available below, the first image represents the operation you must perform for this particular step. All changes are surrounded by a red outline.
On the second image, you will have the opportunity to see the result of this particular step.
First, draw the character using basic shapes like circles and rectangles. Remember to use dark outlines. If you are more confident, you can start immediately using plain colors on your shapes.
Once you are finished, you need to select each part of the character individually. Grab your gradient tool and apply a second color on each part of the student. The bottom part of each shape must be darker white the top area should be lighter.
Next, create a few circles to represent the reflection on the pupils and the eyes. These new shapes must be colored in white and slightly transparent on top. You can also create two circles behind the eyes for better readability.
Great! Now we need to add a few extra elements to illustrate stronger shadows. Create a shape below the cap, the neck and on the arms. For each new shapes, use the same color available behind it (but darker). Use transparency to complete the effect.
Finally, you can add more shadows using new shapes on the cap, the head, the shirt and the feet. Use the same technique described above. Good job! Your student cartoon illustration is now finished! I hope you had fun drawing this amusing cartoon character. :)
