This drawing lesson will show you how to draw a snowman cartoon illustration using only a few basic shapes, a vector software and no snow at all! Kids who have the opportunity to play with snow are fascinated by cool cartoon character. There is nothing more enjoyable than creating a great-looking snowman using accessories like glasses, hats, carrots and scarves.
Important note: For each step available below, the first image represents the operation you must perform for this particular step. All changes are surrounded by a red outline.
On the second image, you will have the opportunity to see the result of this particular step.
You can begin by drawing the outline of your cartoon character. Once you are finished, select the fill tool and apply plain colors on your illustration. Of course, you can add the colors of your choice if you want.
Once the character is completely colored, pick up the gradient tool and apply a second color on all shapes of the character. Make sure that the top color is lighter.
Create five small circles to represent reflection on the eyes and the buttons. You can also use the transparency tool to hide the top part of each new shape.
Create more shapes on the hat, the face, the scarf and the arms. The goal is to create new shadows to enhance readability. The shape on the hat must be lighter otherwise it won't be visible.
Finally, create more shadows on the left side of the snowman cartoon illustration to add more depth to the drawing. Great job! I think we have a cute character that is ready to be published! :)
