In this basic drawing lesson, you will draw a sheep clipart created from various simple shapes and lines. If you can draw a rectangle and a circle, then chances are that you will be able to duplicate this cartoon character quite easily. For this tutorial, we will use a front version as shown in the illustration below.
Sheep are fun animal to work with. They are easily recognizable once the wool is added to the character's anatomy. Sheep also have small ears, a nose made from a "V" shape and a small tail. Did you know that throughout the world, more than one billion sheep are raised for fleece, meat and milk? Quite impressive! Are you ready to draw? Let's begin this lesson with the first step found below.
First, draw a large rectangle made from a thick outline. Inside this shape, draw two large circles to form the eyes. Finally, complete this step by sketching small circular shapes inside the eyes to represent the pupils. That's it for this first step. It was the easiest one (hope you made it through!). Let's proceed with the next step ...
On top of the head of the cartoon animal, draw some wool using mostly small circles that are joined together. On the bottom of the cartoon character, repeat the same technique and add wool near the legs and on the back to form the tail. You can also draw two large ears using curved lines. :)
Nice work! One final step before adding colors and we are done. Inside the head, draw the nose using two small straight lines. Below the nose, the mouth can be done with a long curved line. Complete this step by adding two small legs using small rectangles and lines as shown in the illustration below.
Why not add colors to make this cartoon sheep even more enjoyable to look at. The wool on top and on the bottom of the animal can be filled with a very light grey color (simply because white would not be visible). For the tail, you can select a darker color to create some depth. Then, add a darker grey color to fill in the head, the ears and the legs. Pupils are also filled with a dark grey color.
These are all four steps required to illustrate this sheep clipart properly. I hope you had fun working with this simple cartoon character. Of course, you can also try more versions using this simple sheep cartoon, this complex illustration of a sheep or this other version also made from basic elements. Enjoy! :)
