Pig cartoon (Advance vector tutorial)

Sponsored Links

This cute little pig cartoon is the subject of this new drawing lesson involving a simple cartoon animal and nice shadows and reflections! Every little kid is able to identify a pig at an early age. Indeed, this funny animal is easy to recognize with its pink skin and curly tail.

In this fun drawing tutorial, I will show you how to draw this amusing animal using a vector software. Please remember that you don't need to own a vector software to complete this drawing lesson, but if you do, then it will be easier to come up with a result similar to mine.

Important note: For each step available below, the first image represents the operation you must perform for this particular step. All changes are surrounded by a red outline. On the second image, you will have the opportunity to see the result of this particular step.

Start this tutorial by sketching the outline of your cartoon pig. As you can see, the right ear is not visible for now. It doesn't matter since this part will be created with shadows later on. Once you are finished, apply plain colors on all shapes.

Then, select the gradient tool and apply this effect on all parts of the pig cartoon. Notice that the darker parts are always on the bottom except for the eyes and the feet.

Work on the eyes and add a few circles to represent reflection on the pupils and the eyes. Add one more circle behind each eye to create a dark patch.

Time to add a few shadows! Create a shape inside the pig that will form the top of the head and the right ear. Use transparency to hide the top part of this new shape. You can also create a small shadow on the bottom of the left ear.

One the left side of the jaw, create a small dark shadow and apply transparency on top. On the head, create another shape that will be used to create a light reflection.

Finally, complete your work on the pig cartoon by creating a light reflection on top of the pig. You can also use your virtual pencil to draw a small shadow below the head of your cartoon animal. That's it! Your drawing is now finished and ready to be shared!
