This cute panda cartoon is probably one of the easiest tutorial to complete in this section! Unlike other characters available here, this cute cartoon animal is made from basic oval shapes and shadows are clean and simple. As you can see, a character can be quite cute even if shapes are basic and not filled with complex details.
Don't hesitate to use your own character or reproduce this template using your own style. It's important to work on your own drawing abilities and don't hesitate to practice over and over again. It's the only way to improve your drawing skills significantly!
Important note: For each step available below, the first image represents the operation you must perform for this particular step. All changes are surrounded by a red outline. On the second image, you will have the opportunity to see the result of this particular step.
First, create the basic shapes of your character. Use small thin lines to illustrate the body and the head of your panda cartoon. Once you are finished, add colors (well, only black and white fills since this animal isn't filled with bright colors) and replace the white parts with a light grey tone.
Select the gradient tool from your vector software and add some shadows on the grey parts. It's useless to use white as a color since it won't be visible on the white background.
Create a few circles to form shadows and reflections on the eyes and the pupils. You can also add another white circle on the nose of your panda. Each new shape must be transparent on the bottom.
Duplicate the ears, the hands, the feet and color these new shapes with a light grey tone. Use transparency to hide the bottom part of each new shape. You can also create a small shadow below the head to make your illustration easier to read.
Finally, apply a few long shadows on the stomach, below the nose, on the head and near the right foot. Once again, use transparency to hide the top part and create a smoother transition. Nice job! Your panda cartoon is now completely done and ready to be displayed! :)
