Drawing a cute maid cartoon is not a difficult task. If you already know how to draw a simple female character, you just need to dress her properly to end up with a nice maid that will be adorable and fun to look at.
In fact, your biggest challenge might be to figure out what outfit and hairstyle are more appropriate. Do you want to use simple clothes with straight colors like black and white or go with something more colorful? Black hair? A blonde character? It's up to you to decide!
Important note: For each step available below, the first image represents the operation you must perform for this particular step. All changes are surrounded by a red outline.
On the second image, you will have the opportunity to see the result of this particular step.
Let's move on! Start working on your character by sketching the outline. Use a small black line and make sure that every detail is clearly visible. We are working with a vector application, so anything can be modified later if necessary. Next, add a few colors to enhance the illustration. I have decided to color the dress in black and make the character's hair blonde.
Great! Now a simple way to give more volume to our maid cartoon character is to use the gradient fill tool to create shadows. Select each shape individually and use this tool to create the bottom part darker and the top lighter. For each shape, you need to use two different tones of the same color.
Once you are finished, you can create additional shapes to represent the dark shadows around the eyes. You can also create four circles to illustrate the reflection on the eyes and the pupils. Two additional shapes were also added on the dress. These shapes were colored in grey and some transparency was applied to create smooth shadows.
Finally, you can add two more shadows on the head and the top of the hair of your character. As you can see, adding a few simple effects is not as difficult as it might seems at first. You just need to work hard and keep practicing. Don't hesitate to try other tutorials from the same series as well. You will probably learn new tricks not available on this page!
