Koala cartoon (Advance vector tutorial)

In this simple step-by-step drawing tutorial, I will show you how to draw a nice koala cartoon using a vector software. This cute animal that lives in Australia is well-known for its long nose, large eyes and round body.
To complete this drawing lesson accurately, you will need to use a vector software. You can also use pencils or paint, but it will be quicker to use the same tools as I do. Don't hesitate to take a look at all the other tutorials from this section. Most of them are very easy to complete.
Important note: For each step available below, the first image represents the operation you must perform for this particular step. All changes are surrounded by a red outline. On the second image, you will have the opportunity to see the result of this particular step.
First, use the drawing tools and draw all outlines like shown above. Then, color your character using mostly brown colors. It doesn't really matters for now if colors are not 100% accurate.
Use the gradient tool and select the shape of the body and the head. Make sure that the bottom part of your shape is darker. Select the ears and the legs and use the gradient tool again to add some shadows.
Select the inside part of the ears, the eyes, the nose and the shape on the stomach. Use the gradient tool to enhance all shapes like shown above. Notice that the nose and the eyes are done with a circular fill.
Create six new circles that will be used to work on the eyes. Add circles on the eyes, the pupils and behind the eyes. Only circles added behind the eyes must be brown. All other shapes must be white.
It's now time to add a few reflections on the koala cartoon. Create new (but smaller) shapes for the head, the nose and the hands. For the head, make your shape darker and hide the top of the shape to create a dark shadow on the bottom of the head. For the nose and the hands, color your shapes with a lighter tone of brown and hide the bottom part of the shapes.
Once again, create new shapes on top of the head and on the legs. Color these shapes with a lighter tone of brown and hide the bottom part of the shapes. That's it! Your koala cartoon is now ready to be displayed on your site or for your friends! Good job! :)
