Don't be fooled by the charm of this adorable creature and learn how to draw a mermaid made from simple shapes like circles and triangles. I will show you how you can end up with a fun cartoon character using only six easy steps. So grab a pencil and a piece of paper and let's start this fun drawing tutorial now! :)
Cool! Let's begin with the creation of the head using a large oval shape. The top of the head must be slightly pointed while the bottom should be a little bit flat. Add a small rectangle to form the body.
Time to work on the hair. A complete circle is required. Only the bottom part of the shape is opened. Don't forget to cover the forehead partially using a long curved line like shown on the illustration below.
Add two large circles to illustrate the eyes. Both eyes must be close to each other. The tail is made from several curved lines and the end is similar to the shape of a cartoon moon.
When you are done with the third step, you can draw large pupils inside the eyes. These shapes must be close to each other. The arms are made from long rectangles with round corners.
Sketch a small circular shape to represent the belly button. The mouth is made from a long curved line while the nose is drawn using a smaller one. You can also add two small oval shapes inside the pupils.
Nice job! This is the final version featuring a black and white version of this adorable cartoon mermaid. Don't hesitate to try this tutorial as often as needed. Practicing a lot is the key to success!
