Important note: For each step available below, the first image represents the operation you must perform for this particular step. All changes are surrounded by a red outline.
On the second image, you will have the opportunity to see the result of this particular step.
Great! First, draw the character using dark outlines and a few basic shapes. You don't need to come up with an exact copy of this character. Something similar is good enough. Once you are finished, add plain colors to your drawing.
Since you are using a vector software, you should have access to a gradient tool. Use this tool to add some shadows to all shapes of your cowboy. Most of the time, your shape must be darker on the bottom and lighter on top.
Your character looks great, but that's not good enough yet! In this step, you must add a few circles on the eyes and the pupils to represent reflection. These new circles must be white and transparent on top. Behind the eyes, you can add a dark circle to make this one easier to read. A small dark shadow was also added below the neck.
Finally, you can create darker shapes on the head, below the neck, on the pants and on the shirt. These new shapes must be dark and slightly transparent. Good job! :)
