How to draw a cartoon wolf

This tutorial will help you learn to draw a cartoon wolf. Very similar to a dog (anatomically speaking), the wolf is, however, a more feared and dangerous predator than its domestic friend.
So let's see how you could draw this courageous animal by following this 11 steps tutorial. This lesson is a little harder than the usual ones.

First, draw a rectangle to illustrate the jaw. Then, draw a triangle to create the junction between the nose and the jaw. Finally, draw the nose using a simple circle.

Next, sketch the eyes of your wolf on top of the jaw. You can also add the forehead by drawing a circle.

To practice ourselves a little bit more, we are gonna sketch two different ears. One that is straight and pointing towards the sky, and another one that is bent and more dog-like. Use rectangles to sketch your ears.

The body of the cartoon wolf will be created with a small circle. You can join the head and the body by sketching a small square between both.

For the hands, just draw a circle for now. Place it near the feet that you will draw using rectangles.

The tail is created with three rectangles. The last one, near the tip of the tail, should be the bigger one.

Now let's refine our drawing. The nose is more oval than round. The jaw is narrower near the nose, than becomes a little wider, to finally become narrower again near the neck. Notice how the eyes are placed in the drawing.

The neck should be long and narrow while the body is round. You can also sketch the ears. Don't make them too large or long. Even if it's a cartoon character, the ears shouldn't be too exaggerated in size (since they already are disproportionate in this drawing).

For the lower part of the body, draw a hand just like you would do for a human character. The feet are also pretty simple. Just draw an oval shape with the lower part being flat. The tail has to be thin near the body and larger towards the end.

You can now add details like the pupils, the light reflection on the nose and the two menacing teeth.

Add some colors and you are done! You now have a nice wolf ready to hunt some harmless animals! I hope you had fun drawing this lovely character!
