How to draw a cartoon whale

Learn how to draw a simple cartoon whale. Some tutorials are harder to follow (and reproduce) than others. This one is quite easy to do.
If you follow these eight simple steps to the letter, you will be able to draw a nice whale in a matter of minutes! Let's see how you can draw this lovely sea animal who's species is considered endangered!
First, draw a simple rectangle. It should be a little bit larger than higher, but not too much! Just a little!
Next, draw another small rectangle to illustrate the middle part of the tail. Like you can see on the image above, it should be low and not too big.
For the tail itself, just draw two oval shapes in a 45 degree angle. That will do for now.
Now place the eye of your whale within the body. Do this by drawing a simple circle that should be placed slightly towards the left.
Work and refine the outline of your character. Notice the little curve on the left (bottom) part of the body. This will be used to create the mouth later on.
Finish your tuning by drawing a nice tail to your whale. The outside of the tail is made with a simple curve while the inside is created using two lines. See the image above for more details.
Finally, simply add the pupils, the mouth, the hole on the back of the whale and the pectoral fin. You can also draw a line to separate the throat grooves from the rest of the body.
Nice! You now have a simple yet very accurate drawing of a whale. Notice how the blue bottom part of the whale is lighter than the rest of its body. So there it is! An effective cartoon character created with a few basic shapes! Enjoy!
