How to draw a cartoon telephone

In this tutorial, I will show you how to draw a cartoon telephone! Now that cellphones are so popular and almost affordable (if you use it wisely, of course!) the old wired phone might become a piece of history pretty soon!
They are still useful for many reasons (more secure and available in more places than the cellphone). So let's see how you could draw a nice and clean telephone in this new tutorial!

First, sketch an oval shape to illustrate the handset. Add a rectangle like shown above to form the base of the phone.

Next, add a little depth to the base of the phone. Just sketch two thin rectangles on the right and bottom side of your base.

Refine the outline of the handset. It should look a little bit like a bone. Except the left part of the handset is drawn using a straight line (while the right part does have a light curve in it).

Time to add the buttons and the LCD screen! Make sure your new shapes are drawn using the same perspective as the base itself!

Add some details like the phone cord and a shadow below the handset. You can also add a light shadow on the right part of the handset. Look at the next image of this tutorial if you are not sure how to achieve this.

Now color your telephone using various grey tones. The LCD screen can be colored with a light blue color. Now you are able to see the little shadows over the handset and under it.

Add a last reflection on the handset and apply a gradient effect to the LCD screen. And there you have it! A nice and colorful telephone! Look at it carefully! It might become an object of the past pretty soon! Have fun!
