Drawing cartoon shoes: some fun facts before starting sketching!
- Some modern shoes can be produced in over 100 different sizes!
- In the US, 400 million pairs of sneakers are sold each year.
- In America, sneakers appeared around 1915.
Drawing shoes as never been so easy! Shoes are made of leather, a tongue (2), a heel (4) and the outsole (5).
Laces are also a very important part of the shoes. You can also try to draw sport shoes, running shoes
or even high heels.
They all have particular challenges. But overall, this tutorial should give you the tips you need to draw any of them rather easily.
For better readability, I deliberatly draw only one of the shoes in order to visualize the shapes better.
A shoe can usually fit into a rectangle.
The laces are made of lines while the heel is made of a rectangle. The outsole is also made of a very thin and long rectangle.
Why not try to draw a simple shoe? First, draw a rectangle with one of the edges being a little narrower. Next, work on the outline of your shoe to make it more realistic. Continue your work by drawing the heel and the outsole.
Then, draw the holes near the tongue and add the laces. Finish your artwork by sketching some lines to represent the fabric and add colors.
Here you go! Now you have the choice of drawing a more realistic shoe (3), one with a more unusual outline (4) or even one with a pair of eyes (5)! Or why not draw clown shoes (1)! They can be a great challenge and make your lesson more enjoyable!
