How to draw a cartoon monster

Are you ready to learn how to draw a cartoon monster? I hope so! Because monster are fascinating and pretty amusing to draw! In fact, I think they are one of my favorite subjects! You can do whatever you feel like!
Drawing a monster is a fun exercise to stimulate your imagination! You can draw them with one, two or more eyes! They can have four arms and no legs! You are the ultimate master of their destiny! Let's draw a monster with a big and disproportionate body!

First, draw a nice oval shape to create the head. Then, add two small circles above the center of the first shape to form the trapezius. Finally, draw a rectangle to illustrate the body. Make sure that the bottom part is narrower!

Continue working on your illustration by sketching two circles for the shoulders. Next, draw two long thin rectangles on each side of the arms like shown above. Our monster will have some unusual claws over the shoulders!

Great! Now let's work on the arms! Draw a small rectangle to create the arm itself. Then, sketch a longer and bigger rectangle to illustrate the forearm. Our character won't have fingers, but rather two long claws on each hand. Sketch them using two long and thin triangles.

Now the body! Draw a small square to form the waist. Under this shape, add a circle to create the hips. Finally, sketch two rectangles to represent each leg (the one on the bottom being the bigger one) and a semi circle to form the feet.

Let's refine the outline of our monster friend! Start by working on the head. Make sure the chin is pointed and you can add the eyes if you wish. For the body, follow the outline of the basic shapes drawn previously.

You can do the same for the claws on the back and the arms and hands.

Refine the outline of the legs and make sure that everything is clean and well-proportioned. We are almost done!

Add some details like the mouth, the pupils and some spikes on the head. You can also draw some lines on the body to make the muscles more visible.

Add some colors (in this case, I've chosen to add some green tones) and your artwork is done! Of course, you can choose to add other colors if you think that green is not a suitable color for your character.

If you can (with a software or with a pencil), add some shadows to make your drawing visually more interesting! Cool! You manage to draw a nice looking cartoon monster in only ten easy steps! Congratulations and happy drawing!
