How to draw a cartoon lamp

This drawing lesson will help you draw a cartoon lamp! This object is very useful in our everyday life. Oil lamps are cool, but not as practical as our modern lamps!
In this tutorial, you will learn to draw a model that I enjoy a lot: a table lamp created especially for artist! This object is flexible, solid and very useful! Let's start this tutorial right now!

First, draw an oval shape to create to opening of the shade. Then, add another oval shape on top to create the bottom of the shade. Finally, sketch a square to illustrate the top of the shade.

Next, add a small square on top of the shade to form the switch. Continue your illustration by adding the arm of the lamp. You can create this one with three rectangles and two circles like shown above. Draw the base using a rectangle.

Refine the outline of the shade and add a light bulb (using a circle).

You can add some holes on the shade (to prevent this one from getting too hot) and refine the outline of the base.

Add some colors to your artwork. Most of the parts will be black except the light bulb, the inside of the shade and the holes.

And why not draw a lamp that is on? Just add a nice yellow glow to your light bulb and a stream of light coming out of your lamp. Congratulations! You've just created a nice and clean lamp in only six easy steps! I hope you had fun drawing this beautiful object and keep practicing!
