How to draw cartoon kids

This lesson will give you tips on how to draw cartoon kids! You could easily define them as being a small version of an adult. And you would be right! But drawing kids is a little more than that.
Just try to reproduce this step-by-step drawing lesson to learn what you really need to know in order to draw a nice and genuine kid!

First, sketch a large oval shape to illustrate the head of your character. Don't hesitate to make it big! The head of a kid doesn't grow that much over the years compared to the rest of the body. Next, add two small circles to form the ears.

On the face of your kid, draw two large circles. Once again, if you prefer to only use dots to represent the eyes, then go ahead and do it! But in my case, I found that displaying a wide range of emotions through big shiny eyes is easier to do than doing so with dots.
Next, draw a large rectangle to create the cap. Finally, just draw a small circle on top of the head and add a small rectangle on one end of the cap to complete this step.

For the neck, just draw a small square. Add another square, bigger this time, to illustrate the body. Our character will be holding a baseball bat. Just sketch a circle to form the hand and two rectangles (one thin and very long, the other one small and narrow) to create the bat.

For the legs and the feet, just draw rectangles like shown above. Make the legs short so that your character won't look like a small adult, but a nice and well-proportioned kid!

Work on the head of your kid to make it more genuine and accurate. The cap should be rounder and smooth. You can also add some hair on each side of the face.

Now it's time to refine the hardest part of your drawing: the body! Your character should have small shoulders and a hand with small fingers. You can also sketch a nice baseball bat. The feet can be long and pointed. Remember that the legs should be short to make your kid look like one.

When you are done with the body, just add some details like the pupils, the nose and the mouth to complete your artwork.

Add some colors and you are finished! You now have a nice and smiling cartoon kid ready to hit the ball out of the ballpark! So remember that in order to draw a nice and clean cartoon kid, just draw a big head, small legs and shoulders that are narrow and curved.
That's it for this drawing lesson! I hope you had fun drawing this amusing character and don't forget to practice as much as possible!
