How to draw a cartoon dalmatian

This simple tutorial will help you learn to draw a cartoon dalmatian. This very popular breed of dog is very easy to recognize with its black spots.
One quality that might describe this dog more accurately would be elegance. No wonder why this dog is admired and loved by everyone! So let's see how you could learn to draw a nice dalmatian by following this step-by-step tutorial!

First, sketch a nice oval shape to create the head of your dog. Since the dalmatian is a tall and elegant dog (like stated above), don't hesitate to make the lead long and thin.

Next, sketch two oval shapes to form the eyes of your dog. Notice how they are leaning toward each other a little. Then, add a square and a triangle to create each ear of your character. The dalmatian does have long and thin ears. Make sure that these characteristics are visible in your drawing.

Continue your artwork by drawing the body of your dalmatian. The neck, like most body part of this dog, is long and thin. The body can be drawn with a rectangle that should be narrower on top.

The legs should be relatively easy to sketch. Just draw a rectangle for each of the four feet and an oval shape for the rear legs. This particular shape should be drawn in a 45 degrees angle.

Now it's time to refine the outline of our dog. First, work on the head and the nose. Study carefully the lower part of the head (usually called the snout). It is probably the most difficult part of the dog to achieved accurately.

Moved on to the body of your dalmatian. Like I said earlier, the neck should be long and thin. Notice that I voluntarily sketched a dalmatian with practically no shoulders. It will look taller and thinner this way! You can also refine the outline of the ears. Each of them should be thin and pointed.

Last, but not least, the legs and the feet! Each feet should be drawn like a half circle. Make sure that the feet on the back are well-connected to the legs.

Now just add the small details remaining like the pupils, the small line below the nose and the ones on the feet.

When you are finished, add the black spots on the dalmatian's body. Don't hesitate to place them in appropriate places to keep your drawing clean and visible. For example, if you sketch a black spot near the nose, this spot can become too distracting and make the nose less visible.
So there you have it! A nice and cute cartoon dalmatian ready to conquer the heart of every kid in town! I hope you had fun drawing this adorable animal!
