How to draw cartoon corn

This tutorial will help you draw a simple cartoon corn! August is one of my favorite month for many reasons. First, the weather is great and second, it's corn season!
Just make your corn boiled for 10 minutes, add a little bit of butter and salt on it and there you go! You have a nice treat so delicious that I could eat six or seven corns in the same meal without any problem! But enough about me! Let's try to draw a simple corn right now!

First, draw a large and long oval shape. It will be used to create the body of our corn.

Next, sketch a circle and a triangle on top of this circle to illustrate a leave.

Sketch two more triangles on the back of our corn to create two more leaves. We now have drawn the final shape of our corn!

Refine all leaves by working the outline. It should look more accurate, just like illustrated above.

Now the corn itself! Work on the outline of your main shape by sketching various bubbles on it. Don't make them too big! Each piece of corn should be small and irregular in shape.

When you are done, add some lines inside the main shape to simulate corns. You can draw lines randomly. You don't need to make them all the same sizes or in the same orientation. After all, mother nature is producing organic food (so your corn should not be symmetrical!).

finally, add some shadows to make your corn look more real and interesting!

Adding some colors will enhance your artwork tremendously! It might be difficult at first to obtain a nice and clean 3D effect when playing with colors and shadows. But remember that this tutorial is created with a software! Have fun and keep practicing!
